There was a house fire on April 22nd in Nevada that killed 1 person and injured 2 others. This fire has been determined to be accidental and caused by careless smoking while home oxygen was in use. During the month of April, Nevada saw 3 house fires caused by cigarettes, 2 of which also had home oxygen and were deadly. The Nevada Fire Department recommends people with oxygen to install Fire Safe cannula thermal shunt. These medical devices can stop the flow of oxygen when oxygen tubing is exposed to fire or ignites.
