Tonight will be the first City Council meeting in Marshalltown after the deadline for individuals to submit their name for the 3^rd Ward Vacant seat.  While some have submitted letters of interest the field has changed from the initial report.  Doris Kinnick has now withdrawn her name from consideration, but plans to stay involved and continue to attend meetings as a citizen.  The candidates left are Chris Bennett, an Information Technology Systems Administrator in the probation/parole office for the State of Iowa, and Greg Nichols, a manager of IT services for Jenzabar Inc., and Leopoldo Reyes a 2007 MHS Graduate.  The agenda for the meeting tonight includes an item for the temporary appointment of a councilor, it will be something that will need a majority vote from the council.
