While the middle of last week had the fair attendance drop off from record pace, the weekend almost made up for it. The total attendance has been tallied and it was the 2nd largest fair in the 169-year history with 1,133,958 attendees. This is up 15,000 attendees from last year. Some fun statistics brought to you by Marketing Director for the IA State Fair, Mindy Williamson. She says, a record 20,850 cases of water was sold, more than 200 food booths used over 500 tons of ice, 8,254 people voted in the best food contest, and over 14,000 hogs were entered in the 4-H swine shows. Overall, it was a very successful fair, some might even say, the best days ever.
