Last night at the Marshalltown City Council meeting the Council discussed the ordinance around allowing people to put their trash can within 4feet of the roadway.  This was a topic because one of the garbage collection services got a new truck that uses an automatic arm and need the cans within 4ft of the road.

That is Councilor Jeff Schneider, he feels that if the city changes the ordinance the other garbage collectors would change their trucks.  It was discussed if the ordinance was changed, would that allow every garbage collector to ask that the cans are within 4ft of the road.

That is Councilor Gary Thompson.  While no decision was made last night, they were calling for the garbage collectors to attend the next meeting to learn more about their operation and what their needs are.
