An arrest was made yesterday in Marshalltown in connection to the 9-year-old who was struck by a pickup truck in August. This incident happened near the intersection of N 6th Ave and Union St. on August 10th. When officers arrived, they immediately attended to the injured child until medical care could arrive. Initially the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene but returned when law enforcement was still there investigating. The driver of the truck was identified as 57-year-old Carlos Cancino-Valdez, from Marshalltown. September 18th, 2023 Cancino-Valdez was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Injury, a Class-D Felony.
