Iowa Girls State Swim will take place in Marshalltown at the Marshalltown YMCA coming up on November 10th and 11th. Girls State Swim has been happening at the Marshalltown YMCA since 2004, but YMCA Aquatics Director Shelley Lechnir has been around for 16 of them.
It takes a whole lot of people to make this event happen. Lechnir mentions that the YMCA is still open during this event, but some areas are closed.
Lechnir says that it takes close to 100 volunteers each session to make it all happen. If anyone is interested in volunteering and helping during State Swim, she suggests to reach out to Angie Nelson or Ryan Isgrig at the high school.
