On Monday night the Marshalltown City Council approved the purchase of 32 Flock cameras to be put up in town to help the police department catch criminals.  The cameras have a license plate scanner that will help law enforcement.

That is Marshalltown Police Chief Mike Tupper discussing how the cameras will operate.  Captain Kiel Stevenson made a presentation about the cameras a few weeks ago at a city council meeting.  Chief Tupper explains further how the cameras work when they pick up a ping for a vehicle.

The money used to fund these cameras is coming from the revenue received from the Automated Traffic Enforcement cameras that were put up earlier this year.
