The Marshall County jail works with other counties to help house inmates.  One of the agreements signed back in 2015 was with the Sac and Fox Tribe of Mississippi, or better known as the Meskwaki Settlement.  Marshall County Sheriff Joel Phillips mentions why the Memorandum of Understanding is ending between Marshall County and the Meskwaki Settlement.

This will reduce revenue for Marshall County as they will no longer get paid to house individuals from the Meskwaki Settlement.  Sheriff Phillips mentions it will be a loss of about $30,000 with ending the MOU but he talks about how they will make it up.

Sheriff Phillips says that Marshall County currently has a contract with US Marshalls to house 12 federal prisoners.  He says there are roughly 130 inmates in the Marshall County jail.
