While Christmas was not the white Christmas many of us are used to, we do need to remember that winter and the snow is coming.  Western Iowa has seen snow recently, but here in central Iowa we still have time to make sure our cars are ready for winter.

That is Marshall County Emergency Management Coordinator Kim Elder.  She mentions things like gloves, socks, extra coat, blanket/sleeping bag, water bottle, snacks like granola, and most importantly a portable phone charger. You may need to make a phone call or send your GPS.

It is always good to know who to call in case you end up in an emergency situation.  You can use that 511 number if you are unsure of the roadways before you leave.
