The Nevada Fire Department sent out a report yesterday showing they responded to a record 843 calls in 2023. That is the highest number of services calls in a year since the fire department was founded in 1860. Nevada Fire Department responds to both fire and EMS calls, but the only full-time staffer is Ray Reynolds. The rest of the team is made up of 45 volunteers. Reynolds says the most common call this year is for a fall or lift assist as many homes in our communities are not designed for the mobility needs of our aging population. 843 was a significant uptick from 2022 which only saw 779 calls.
