CMT will honor the legendary country group Alabama with CMT Giants: Alabama, a two-hour special late to be filmed at Belmont University’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville. CMT posted on social media: “We can’t wait to celebrate the extraordinary music and career of one of country music’s most iconic groups, @thealabamaband “#CMTGiants: Alabama” — coming later this year on CMT!”
Set to pay tribute to Alabama will be Blake Shelton, Steve Wariner, Brad Paisley, Jamey Johnson, Jason Aldean, Little Big Town, Old Dominion, Pam Tillis, Lorrie Morgan, Riley Green and Sam Hunt, who will perform some of the group’s most iconic songs during the tribute event. Evander Holyfield, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, Martina McBride, Vince Gill and more are scheduled to share personal stories about the group, and Alabama themselves will have an exclusive sit-down interview to reflect on their career.
Alabama is comprised of Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook (the latter who died in November 2022). They were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005, with the band has selling over 80 million albums. with 43 No. 1 hits.
CMT has not announced the premiere date of CMT GIANTS: ALABAMA, but it is scheduled to air sometime later this year.
