Right now the city and county are figuring out their budget for the next fiscal year. Jaret Heil, Marshall County Supervisor Chairman and former Marshall County Treasurer, has been doing budgets for a long time.
Heil says nothing is finalized yet, so the slight increase is just a prediction. The courthouse project being 99% finished allows the budget to look more ‘normal’. Heil was asked about a rainy-day fund, or if a big expense were to occur again, like the courthouse, how would the county respond.
Heil and the other 2 Supervisors, Carol Hibbs and Steve Salasek, have said they will meet with each department head to finalize their budgets and know what items are high priority.
