The 10 finalists for Iowa’s Best Burger have been announced and some familiar names are on the list.  This is the 15th year for the competition, so the Iowa Beef Council decided to open up the competition to all restaurants again.  Of the 10 finalist, 3 have been crowned Iowa’s best burger previously, Chuckwagon Restaurant in Adair (2016), Flight Bar + Grille in Huxley (2023), and a Marshalltown staple, the Flying Elbow (2022).  The final phase for the 2024 Iowa’s Best Burger will now begin. All top 10 restaurants will be visited by a panel of anonymous judges who will evaluate the burgers based on taste, appearance, and proper doneness (160 degrees Fahrenheit), according to the Iowa Beef Council. The judges’ scores and comments will be accumulated and the winner will be announced on May 1 to kick off May Beef Month. The 7 other finalists are, Big head Burger in Waterloo, Houston’s On Main in Milo, Lucile’s at the Continental Hotel in Centerville, The Market at the Tap in Monticello, Wilder at Graduate Iowa City in IC, and Williamson Taver, Williamson.
