Last night was a busy night in Marshalltown with multiple events happening for non-profits in our community.  The Community Foundation of Marshall County awarded their grants for this years cycle and gave out nearly $150,000!  Julie Hitchens, Community Foundations Executive Director, she mentions that the 3 high schools in Marshall County have groups that award some of the money.

STEP, the group from Marshalltown High School, had a focus on youth and families.  LUCC, the group from West Marshall, had a focus on crisis assistance, youth support, and health and wellness.  Finally SEAL, the group from East Marshall, had a focus on addressing basic needs.  The students learn so much through this process.

Hitchens says to watch their Facebook page, Community Foundation of Marshall County, to see the different non-profits who received funds highlighted throughout the year.
