April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, this is something that the Marshalltown Police Department highlights each year.  According to the Marshalltown Police Department there were 74 sexual assault related crimes in 2023.

That is Marshalltown Police Chief Mike Tupper, he says that a lot of these crimes also involve children.  These crimes are very personal, which makes them difficult to investigate.

Many times people think ‘stranger danger’ but when it comes to Sexual Assault, many times it happens from someone we know and thought we could trust.
