At Monday Nights Marshalltown City Council meeting the council approved the budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. They also voted unanimously to approve the 2024 – 2028 Capital Improvement Plan. One common complaint people have had is the condition of the roads in Marshalltown. The Capital Improvement Plan has roughly $22 million in Street Improvement Program, which is the 2nd largest section of the budget only behind Public Works which is around $54 million. With the Fiscal Year 2024 – 2025 budget, the council has a tax rate of $16/$1000 of valuation, same as the past year. The total amount of expenses has raised from roughly $97 million to $105 million. The budget was approved unanimously.
