The Boy Scouts of America announced yesterday that the organization will go through an official name change in February next year.  Mid-Iowa Council Scout Executive Matt Hill, is currently at the National Conference down in Orlando, Florida.  He called the KFJB line to let our listeners know what’s coming in February.

5 years ago the Boy Scouts of American expanded their Cub Scout and Boy Scout program to allow girls to join.  This then initially prompted a name change to the Boy Scout program to Scouts BSA.  Overall, the change has been positive.

The official name change will go into effect in February next year, and it lines up with an important date in Scouting.

People can learn more about Scouting and Scouting in Central Iowa at ScoutingIowa.org.  My full conversation with Hill will be released this afternoon under ‘Zach Chats’
