An update from Nevada, Iowa following the tornado that went through Story County. According to Emergency Management, two individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The Story County Emergency Management is working with partners throughout the county to complete damage assessment and restoring utilities to impacted communities. They are optimistic that with the crews from Alliant Energy and Consumers Energy Cooperative working throughout the county, power should be fully restored to Colo later today. For Story County, MICA has announced that they will be administering applications for the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program to Story County families in need of assistance due to damage as a direct result from the storms on May 21st. The program, which is managed by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, will grant up to $5,000 to make repairs or replace damaged goods. People with a household income of up to twice the federal poverty level are eligible to participate (family of four the max gross annual income would be $60,000)
