The Marshalltown Community School District held a meeting at Miller Middle School at the end of May to talk about the school’s future. Miller Middle school is 100 years old and it is in need of some updates. Dr. Schutte, Superintendent of Schools, tells KFJB listeners how that meeting went.
There are 3 paths that was presented to the people in attendance. One path to give a facelift to the school, another to gut the school but keep the infrastructure, or a final tear down and rebuild it plan.
Dr. Schutte shared the estimated costs for each plans, the facelift would cost roughly $30 million, updating the classrooms and keeping the infrastructure would cost $60 million, and a complete tear down and rebuild is estimated to cost around $100 million.
