Last night the Marshalltown Bobcat baseball team brought a 16 game losing streak to the diamond. They had a doubleheader against Waterloo East, and game 1 went similar to the previous 16 games, the Bobcats lose 6 – 3. Zander Stupp pitched game 2 and was phenomenal, he pitched 6 and 2/3rds innings only allowing 1 hit and 1 unearned run. He struck out 7 and surrendered 1 walk. Stupp’s performance set up the struggling bobcat offense to only need a few runs. The game went to extra innings tied 1 – 1 and in the bottom of the 8th, pinch runner Bennett Ricken scored on a wild pitch giving the Bobcats the victory. That moves their record to 2 – 17 on the season. They are set to face off against Ottumwa at home on Wednesday this week.
On the other diamond, the Bobcat softball team made quick work of the Waterloo East Trojans. In the first game of the doubleheader the Bobcats score quickly and win the game in 3 innings 14 – 2. The hits just kept on rolling in game 2, as the Bobcats win in a quick 3 innings, 12 – 0. The girls will have practice today, but have another doubleheader scheduled for Wednesday, they’re set to host the Ottumwa Bulldogs.
