As of Friday, the Ward 4 City Council vacancy has 2 people who submitted paperwork, Mark Eaton and Melisa Fonseca. This special election is coming up on July 16th. Nan Benson, Marshall County Auditor/Recorder, says that the timelines are always tough with special elections
Benson says that because it is just ward 4 they will not need as many ballots. Typically, Benson would order ballots to be printed elsewhere.
While Benson did not give a specific date, she does hope that people can begin voting later in the week. She does tell listeners where to go to vote.
The Ward 4 vacancy was left by Al Hoop when he passed away earlier this year. Whomever wins this election will hold that Ward 4 seat through 2027.
