Last night was the 3rd and final reading for the ordinance around solar panels in residential areas in Marshalltown. This ordinance would not allow solar panels installed in the ground, but would still allow solar panels to be installed on a roof.
That is Marshalltown City Councilor Greg Nichols who spoke on Open Forum yesterday morning. Another City Councilor, Jeff Schneider, spoke about why he is against the ground solar panels
There were multiple people who showed up to speak out against this idea, asking for more time to figure out the right solution. Ultimately the City Council voted 5 – 1 and the ordinance passed.
