The Iowa State Extension Beef Field Specialist, Chris Clark from Lucas County, sent out a notice for farmers warning about footrot in cattle.
Clark is a veterinarian by education, and he says footrot usually enters after some sort of abrasion on the foot of the cattle. Clark mentions some warning signs for farmers to watch for
Clark says that the wet weather or even flooding can cause further issues with footrot. He says the skin can get soft and thin with the wet weather.
