MPACT, Marshalltown Police and Community Team, is being evaluated by Dr. Wendy Ringgenberg and the Department of Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning Commission.
That is YSS County Director David Hicks, who says it is nice to hear from the state that this program does work. The state wants to learn how they can replicate it elsewhere. Hicks says that the big problem with MPACT is the funding, that is set to run out at the end of 2025.
MPACT does save our police department time and money. Police Officers have said that MPACT allows them to get back out into the field fighting crime. It helps save time and money with our court system, too. MPACT connects people with help, instead of trying to arrest our way out of problems.
