One item pulled from the consent agenda last night at the Marshalltown City Council meeting was about a liquor license for The Depot at 114 N Center Street. Gary Thompson was the councilor that pulled this item.
Councilman Thompson did the math, he says if an officer spends a half an hour there every day the Depot is open, that means they will spend a month of their work time at the Depot. He feels there are too many calls for service at The Depot. That brought up Police Chief Mike Tupper
Chief Tupper says just because there are lots of calls for service, does not mean they should not get their liquor license renewed.
Chief Tupper does not recommend denying The Depot a Liquor License. The Councilors then voted 5 – 2 to approved the license.
