This past weekend the Marshalltown Rotary Club teamed up with the Marshalltown Police Department to arrest hunger.  They had a couple squad cars parked by the grocery stores and the goal was to fill them up with food.  Rotary President Julie Hitchens tells KFJB listeners how much they collected.

Hitchens says that they used the cash to purchased gift cards to the local grocery stores and gave them to the Emergency Food Box and Sal’s Cupboard at the Salvation Army.  Hitchens says one thing stood out to her when watching people throughout the day.

As the kiddos got to climb around the squad car, they were told they could drive the car if their feet could reach the peddles.  Hitchens says she gets a heartwarming feeling every time she gives back to this community.
