The 9pm Routine is something that the Marshalltown Police Department reminds citizens about.  They frequently will post on their social media about it, reminding people to check their vehicles before you head off to bed.  Sargent Paul Heitman has been with the MPD for 12 years and gives a few tips when reviewing that 9pm Routine.

Sargent Heitman says its all about deterring criminals from acting.  If the windows are down or doors unlocked, that makes for a quick easy steal.

Remember to do the 9pm routine and double check your vehicles.  Sargent Heitman says even if your vehicle is parked in a garage, it is good practice to lock the doors.
