The Marshall County Supervisors voted on Friday during a special meeting to add LOSST to the ballot in November.  The current LOSST is set to expire June 30th, 2025, so this would renew that same tax but take away the sunset.  That means that there is no end dates to LOSST, the Supervisors would have the authority to abolish LOSST in the future.

LOSST is an extra 1% tax on items anyone buys in the county, if the county does not collect it the dollars would be sent to the state.  No matter what, this money will be collected, voters will decide if it stays in the County or goes to Des Moines.  Supervisors have said LOSST brings in about $1.6 million per year, 50% goes to property tax relief and the other 50% goes towards bridge and road repair.
