Fire Safety is something we should remind ourselves of a few times throughout the year.  Here is your reminder to check the battery in your smoke detector in your home.  Interim Fire Chief, Christopher Cross, recently shared his top 5 Fire Safety list on Central Iowa Today.  He starts with number 5 as making sure your house numbers are posted and visible from the road.

Preventing Kitchen fires is key as the kitchen is a common area where home fires start.  Know how to battle grease fires, make sure all appliances are off when you’re done using them.  Then his number 1 Fire Safety tip, it’s actually a tie.
