The morning of Saturday, August 31st, a man was found in the middle of the road and 9-1-1 was called. Police were called to the area of N 12th Ave. and Bromley Street. An adult male was found lying in the middle of the road later identified as 23-year-old Ezra Oliver Seymour. Seymour had visible traumatic injuries so immediate medical care was given. Seymour was taken to the Marshalltown hospital and eventually taken to a Des Moines hospital. Seymour eventually died from his injuries sustained.
Through an exhaustive investigation, law enforcement eventually arrested 2 people in connection to his case, 25-year-old Trequan Merez Cosgrove and 26-year-old Jaimee Yajaira Alcaraz-Gutierrez. Cosgrove was charged with Murder in the 1st degree and felon in possession of a firearm while Gutierrez has been charged with Accessory after the fact. Both are being held in the Marshall County Jail.
