Saturday, around 2:30pm the Marshalltown Fire Department was called to the 1500 block of Summit Street for a house fire.  Authorities found a 2 story house with a fire inside.  When crews entered the house they found 2 separate fires in the bathroom and basement.  There was 1 resident in the house who was able to escape with their dog.  The fires were put out without incident.

Marshalltown Fire Marshal, Josh Warnell, has classified this fire as suspicious and the Marshalltown Police Department is conducting an investigation into the matter.
