Julie Hitchens, Executive Director for the Community Foundation of Marshall County, works with the 3 high schools and student philanthropy groups. This year, she is excited to share, there are 50 total students participating. Recently they had an opportunity to follow up from last years grants.
This allowed the students to see the full picture and ask questions to the organization if anything went different than expected. Hitchens says nearly half of the 50 students are brand new, so while they were together at the MACC they took the opportunity to learn about 8 different non-profits in the community.
Watch for the student philanthropy groups to come out with a new focus area this year for their grant cycle.
