October 15th is National Day of Miscarriage and Infant Loss, giving mothers and families a day to remember. Holly Erbes, a local teacher, is one of those mothers who has lost a child to complications. She wants other mothers and families that there is support out there, so she created an event. October 15th these families can get together for a shared burial.
Erbes says she has partnered with Guiding Star for this event. It is free for families to attend, beginning at 5:30 Tuesday, October 15th.
She says there will be a short service on the 15th, talking about why the event was created. There is also a time for families to add something to the casket like a note or trinket.
Anyone with questions can head to the Guiding Star website, guidingstarmarshalltown.org, to learn more. The Shared Burial will take place Tuesday, October 15th at 5:30pm.
