The Marshalltown City Council has done a lot of discussion of parking around town, as the planning and zoning committee has update a lot of the ordinances.  Recently there has been conversation about parking a trailer or boat in your backyard.  Heather Thomas, Marshalltown Public Works Director, shares some of those details.

After Thomas explains what the few changes are, City Councilor Mike Ladehoff spoke next

Ladehoff is suggesting to allow gravel, as long as people take care of it.  Thomas then explains how this rule currently reads.

Councilor Thompson initially had an amendment to add gravel as an approved material, that amendment failed.  The ordinance did pass the first reading 6 – 1 with Ladehoff as the only no vote.
