Open Burn ordinance started on October 1st in Marshalltown.  Fire Marshal, Josh Warnell, tells KFJB listeners about this ordinance

Burning is only allowed from 10am to 7pm and not allowed on holidays.  This is for residential properties, apartments and commercial businesses are not allowed to burn on their property.  Wind has to be less than 15 mph.  The wind can cause issues with neighbors, which is a civil matter, according to Interim Fire Chief, Christopher Cross

The Fire Department will not referee that dispute.  As long as property owners are following the law, the fire department will not intervene.
