Pot holes are an annoying community issue because you can see and feel them while driving around town.  Where do Pot Holes come from and how do they form?  Marshalltown Street Superintendent, Rick Legg, has been working on roads for over 26 years, and he’s noticed a trend.

Whether that standing water comes from rain in the middle of the day, or from snow/ice melting and ending up on the road, that is the biggest cause of pot holes, according to Legg.  He further explains why

Legg says the freezing and thaw can add to the creation of pot holes, but he feels the standing water being driven over is the biggest cause.  If someone sees a pot hole, there is a number you can call and leave a message to notify Legg and his team, (641) 844-1888
