The Marshalltown Police Department are requesting public assistance to help with the Dogs at Large.  Captain Chris Jones, a former K9 Handler with the Marshalltown Police Department, says the number of calls about Dog at Large have increased this year compared to the previous years.  He first explains when a dog should be on a leash.

The Marshalltown Police Department has responded to 670 calls for service from October 2023 – October 2024.  That is up from 470 and 406 from the previous 2 years.  If your dog is caught out at large, the owner can face a fine.

Penalties will increase each time the same dog is caught out at large.

Capt. Jones says the Marshalltown Police Department works with the Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown to apprehend the dogs at large.
