Last night at the DeJardin Hall at Marshalltown Community College, the Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a candidate forum. Two of the candidates involved were Kara Warme and Mike Wolfe who are up for election in Iowa Senate District 26. They were asked about the workforce and population in Iowa as John Hall, President and CEO of the Commerce, brought up that Iowa is the slowest growing state over the last 100 years. Warme gave her answer first.
She went on to mention how she herself is a transplant to Iowa, having moved here from California 20 years ago. The same question was then posed to Wolfe.
Wolfe went on to state how important those immigrants are to the growth and development to the workforce, but also that there are problems that need to be solved to retain those who were born and grew up here.
The full forum is available to be watched on demand on both the KFJB TV YouTube and Facebook pages for anyone who missed the event last night.
