The Marshalltown Central Business District partners with the Iowa Veterans Home around this time each year to do an “Adopt-A-Vet” program. The Veterans at the Iowa Veterans Home who may not have a ton of family will fill out stars that are posted at local businesses.

That is Erin McGregor, owner of McGregor’s Furniture in downtown Marshalltown and volunteer with the Marshalltown Central Business District. She says to make things easier on the residents, the gifts should be in a gift bag when brought back to the store.

Many of the businesses who are participating are in downtown Marshalltown. Look for the gold stars while out and about this holiday season.
