Marshalltown Water Works delivers water to over 10,000 homes and businesses, which means there is a ton of infrastructure underground. Zach Maxfield, Assistant General Manager with Marshalltown Water Works, and he says there is a program they run throughout the year to keep the pipes clean.

Maxfield shares that some of the water mains in Marshalltown are over 100 years old.

He says there is a plan to get those replaced.

Each year the Water Works will identify some areas that need replacement and work with the city to get those replaced. A good example is High St. and 6th Street recently.
