Today starts the Esports State Showdown at the Orpheum Theater in downtown Marshalltown. This is the state competition for the 3 Esports Titles that are played during the fall. The 3 titles that will be played are Rainbow 6 Siege, Smite, and Super Smash Brothers. This event takes a ton of people and energy to make happen. Nathan Rodemeyer, MCC Esports Head Coach, talks about how it is getting easier to set up the more they do it.
He says each year something has popped up, but the team is ready to deal with whatever that is. Teams will be in Marshalltown today through Friday, Rodemeyer shares when spectators can enter.
Esports has taken off in the last few years, and just like other state events there will be recruiters in Marshalltown watching the players, MCC Esports Head Coach Andrew Goforth speaks about that.
My full conversation with both Rodemeyer and Goforth will be posted on 1230kfjb.com this morning.
