Junior Achievement is a program that goes into the Marshalltown Community School District and teaches students about financial literacy. Whether that’s budget planning, college and career prep, or learning how taxes work, many times students have an ah ha moment.
That is Jen O’Neal the Curriculum and Professional Development Leader for 7 – 12 Core. She says the students in 8th grade get to go to Finance Park where they get assigned a random persona.
The Elementary Aged students start in kindergarten and work up through 6th grade when they finally get to visit Biztown.
That was Jenny Allen the Curriculum and Professional Development Leader for College and Career Readiness. Allen shares that they will need over 130 volunteers to make this all happen. It is easy to volunteer as the curriculum is already prepared, you just need to review the material ahead of time. Reach out to the Marshalltown Community School District if you would like to help.
