Heading into what could be the first nasty storm for the winter this evening bringing snow and ice that could stick around for a few days. Heather Thomas, Marshalltown Public Works Director, reminds people of some rules around snow and ice. She says the city will issue a snow issue alert if there is about 2 inches of snowfall.

That will tell you if you live on a snow route that you cannot park your car on that road. Once those restrictions are lifted, you will get another alert. Those alerts can go to your phone or email. If you are unsure if you live on a snow route, there are maps online.

The City’s website is Marshalltown-ia.gov, the notify me button is on the right side of the main page.
