Thursday 9th January 2025

Thursday last week was the first snowfall where the city had to make a decision to call for the Emergency Snow Alert or not. This Alert will be issued through the News Flash system on the City of Marshalltown Website. People can get these alerts to their phone or email.

That is Marshalltown Public Works Director, Heather Thomas. She says they typically watch for snow to accumulate at least 2inches before they make this call. The routes can be found online but they are also marked with a red sign with a snowflake on it.

The City will issue an Alert saying the parking rules will go into effect at a certain time, then after roads have been cleared, they will send out another alert signaling the park restrictions are over. Learn more at Marshalltown-ia.gov
