Marshalltown Police Chief Mike Tupper joined the KFJB line yesterday to talk about the credit card skimmer that was found at the Casey’s on Lincoln Way.
The Skimmer was found on December 31st, but this investigation had started on December 23rd. He says over 30 victims have stepped forward and others can still do so, as this is an on-going investigation.
As Chief Tupper has seen many different skimming devises across his career, he gives a suggestion to anyone who plans to pay at the pump. This is good procedure for any gasoline pump you may use.
He goes on to say there is 1 easy tell if a gas pump has been tampered with
Finally Chief Tupper suggests to pull on the part that the credit card goes into as some skimmers go overtop of those. The tap and go function will also bypass any of these skimming devices. Chief Tupper reminds listeners these devices can be anywhere, not just gas pumps.
