It was a long-awaited return to the court for the Bobcat basketball teams as they’ve been out of action since December 20th against Fort Dodge.
The Bobcat girls tipped off their action to start the double-header in Waterloo and it was an uphill climb from the get go. Both teams looked a little out of shape from the long break, but it was the Trojans who raced out ahead. The cats scratched and clawed their way back into a tight game, but ultimately fell short, 42-32.
The boys would follow up with a bit of a rough start themselves. 5 points was all the Cats could muster in the opening quarter as they got down near double-digits early. It was a battle for the cats to get back into it, as they’d have a slow start to the second half as well, putting up just 6 more points. An electric fourth quarter would keep the cats in it, but they never could get over the hump and the Trojans, with the help of some key offensive rebounds, pulled away late, winning 52-44.
Both Bobcat teams return to the court this Friday as they’ll host the Ames Little Cyclones in the Highway 30 Rivalry.
