Every year, nonprofits in our community team up to do a homeless count. The annual point in time homeless count is done in January each year. David Hicks, YSS County Director, shares why this is done annually.

YSS is only 1 agency that is part of this count, they team up with Salvation Army, House of Compassion, Triumph Center, and the Casey’s on Iowa Ave. has hopped in to help this year. Hicks shares how the group will tackle the count.

Hicks says this is more than just a count

Marshalltown no longer has a shelter for homeless people. MPACT, Triumph Center, and Salvation Army all deal with the homeless issue on a daily basis which is why they lead the charge doing the count and gathering information.
