Scouting America, formerly known as the Boy Scouts of America, began allowing girls into their main program in 2019. At first it was a lot of siblings that were signing up, but not many full troops. Serica Rowley, Membership Specialist with Mid-Iowa Council, Scouting America, says that is now changing.
It was 4 years ago when the first girls were awarded the Eagle Scout award, as the first class earned that award in February 2021. Youth are able to join either Cub Scouts or Scouts BSA. Rowley mentions how people can learn more.
Online at iascouts.org you will find contact information for the Mid-Iowa Council as well as Rowley. She says there are local packs and troops that youth can join.
