It is no secret that winter time and especially ice and snow, will cause more accidents on the roadways. Police Chief Chris Jones was surprised by the low number of accidents during last weeks storm.

Chief Jones is a driving instructor for new drivers and he says he takes new drivers out onto gravel in the summer to practice driving on ice or snow. Another tip he gives is to just be prepared.

With the cold this week, Chief Jones reminds drivers to make sure you have an emergency kit in your vehicle with a blanket and portable phone charger. He says during the winter, plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time.
