It was a slow start to the postseason, not for the Cats, but for the game itself as Des Moines East was delayed in making it to Marshalltown for the opening round of Regionals. The 7pm tip was pushed back and the game got under way about an hour later, around 8 o’clock. The delayed start didn’t slow down the Bobcats though as Kinsley Bowie got the cats off to a roaring start, while Millie Heitmann and Frankie Long held down the fort defensively as it was a 19-0 shutout in the first quarter. East would be held without a basket, though they did find a free throw, in the second quarter as the cats pushed the lead to 30-1 at the break. It remained all Bobcats in the second half as they got to continuous clock, dropping the hammer on the Scarlets and winning 53-10. It’s the 3rd win in a row for the Cats as they’ll look to continue the momentum into the second round, where they’ll look to upset the 4th ranked Ankeny Centennial Jaguars on Saturday.
